Madeira Wind Birds

Madeira Nature Heritage Ecotour

The best way to get to know the most beautiful parts of the Island is joining us on this tour. Starting from Funchal we head towards the north of Madeira, to a valley situated at 800 meters of altitude but still surrounded by majestic mountains covered by Laurel Forest and bird songs in the air. This is a place where the typical cellars of Madeira are well conserved and where agriculture is still the main activity.

Second stop is at 1500 meters of altitude where the centenary Laurel trees seem to be part of an enchanted wood from a fairy tale. Then a ride along the highest plateau of Madeira and a way down to the restaurant, near the famous lava swimming pools of Porto Moniz, where the three course meal with a typical Madeira dish, included in the tour price, will be served.

After lunch we ride towards the westernmost tip of the Island, passing by different landscapes as forest, agriculture terrains and small boroughs, until we get to a lighthouse where you will be surprised with the steep cliffs falling down on the crystal waters of the sea. Here you may observe some endemic flowers and birds of Madeira.

Final stop is on the warmest place of the Island, a site where long ago land has fallen down from the cliff and formed a small terrace over the sea. Here you can relax from the full day you had whilst admiring several birds on a fresh water pond just next to the sea.
