Madeira Wind Birds Customers Experiences:
John Munday, United Kingdom for Madeira Full Day Birdwatching
“Thanks for a wonderful day out, last Saturday; I really enjoyed it. I managed to add a few more birds to my Madeira list, including a turnstone and a roseate tern by the harbour, just before I left yesterday. Thanks again for a great trip.”
Laura & Wayne, United States of America for Madeira Fauna and Flora
“We finally returned from our cruise on May 3rd and we are slowly getting caught up. But we did want to thank the both of you for a great day in Madeira. Thanks to Hugo, we ended up with 7 lifers plus several Cory's Shearwaters as we left Madeira. And endemic species are always fun to see and we also enjoyed the spectacular scenery. (...) Anyway, I wanted to thank you and we will certainly book a tour with you if we ever are in the area again. We certainly would like to see those other shearwaters that next in your area. And it goes without saying that if we know of anyone else that will be be Madeira and are interested in birds or just the environment, we will recommend you to them.”
Sam, Mike, Megan & Nathan Fitzgerald, United Kingdom for Whale and Dolphin Watching in Madeira
“Hi, just wanted to say thank-you so much for the two lovely trips we had with you. We enjoyed our whole holiday on Madeira very much but the dolphins and whales we saw will stick out as the best moments of our trip. I will not hesitate to recommend your trips to any of our friends & family who visit Madeira in the future. The crew on both trips were kind and helpful and the yacht beautiful. We hope to return to your island one day and go dolphin watching again”
Matthew Welton, United Kingdom for Dolphin Swimming Experience Madeira
“We have just arrived back in the UK, and have had a wonderful holiday. The dolphin experience was wonderful, and my girlfriend thought it was a magical experience. Many thanks for your help in organising the trip. It was an unforgettable time.”
Kris de Rouck, Belgium for Zino's Petrel Night Expedition
“I wanted to thank you properly for the nice guiding trips. Trips like the night trip to Pico de Areeiro on the 9th July for the Zino's Petrels, and on the 10th July the boat trip to the Desertas. Not only the trips but also Catarina was a pretty, sympathic guide and nice companion. If I ever find some girl here, I will marry her (haha.).”
Patrick Orme, United Kingdom for Madeira Half Day Birdwatching
“My thanks to Hugo for a most enjoyable afternoon's birdwatching on Saturday. I much appreciated all the trouble taken to ensure that I saw both as many birds as possible and also several places in your beautiful island which I had not visited before.”
Peter Ransome, United Kingdom for Zino's Petrel Night Expedition
“I had a great trip to Madeira seeing 2 new birds- about 8 Zino's Petrels- with 1 really close flying just a few feet away! seen on special night trip up in the mountains (thanks for this!).”
Godfrey Thompson, United Kingdom for Madeira Private Guided Tour
“A flight to the heart of Madeira: A day or half day tour will reveal to you not only the current attractions of several habitats, but also the historical changes which have occurred, and future plans that are in place. A specialist outing will take you to the heart of Madeira's natural history. Hugo and his delightful partner Catarina are thoughtful, considerate guides and will readily tailor their excursions to suit the needs and abilities of their clients. Hugo seems to have the ability to deliver the goods in more than one sense. When he says "we hope to see", this usually means without much effort the desired bird/butterfly/plant is seen in the specified location, at the appointed time. Perhaps the influence of his charm extends to the natural world as well! By now you will have gathered that I am a satisfied customer, but satiated no. I shall be back to this wonderful island again and again. AND I shall be out with Madeira Wind Birds to see and learn more about all aspects of Madeira.”
Tim Boultwood, United Kingdom for Zino's Petrel Night Expedition
“It was a great night trip to see Zino's and I really enjoyed it. Friendly, informed guide and a most memorable night. Highly recommended.”
Keith Roylance, United Kingdom for Madeira Full Day Birdwatching
“Full day birdwatching gave excellent variety of birds and Madeiran Landscapes. Excellent.”
Keith Roylance, United Kingdom for Zino's Petrel Night Expedition
“Night expedition was superb. The sounds of Zino's Petrels will never be forgotten and to see a few in the moonlight was exceptional.”
Nico Geiregat, Belgium for Zino's Petrel Night Expedition
“I enjoyed the excursion very much although the Zino's were rather quiet. Lourenço's tea was very enjoyable too :-) All the best...”
Wolfgang Koschel, Germany for Madeira Desertas Islands Cruise
“Sea trip to the Desertas with Wind Birds, on board Catarina, an excellent guide for birding, many thanks to you by this way.”
Paul Gaffan, United Kingdom for Madeira Desertas Islands Cruise
“We anchored in the small haven on Deserta Grande for lunch and some of our shipmates took the opportunity to land, Pat and I stayed on board and watched a pair of Common Tern lazily cruise the anchorage. The return journey showed the same birds again as the outward but we added Manx Shearwater to the list. We were a little disappointed that we did not get nearer to Bugio to enable us a better chance of seeing Fea's Petrel and also a little surprised that we were the only birders on the voyage. The crew were excellent and Miguel was a super chef as well as a good captain but a greater knowledge of the birds would have been a help.”
Paul Gaffan, United Kingdom for Madeira Full Day Birdwatching
“The trip had been a great success and Madeira Wind Birds managed to blend experience and beginners with style.”
Mark and Christine Burgess, United Kingdom for Madeira Fauna and Flora
“Many thanks for a fascinating and hugely enjoyable day - and you can quote us!”
Anthea Reynolds, United Kingdom for Madeira Nature Heritage Ecotour
“Just a note to say thank you for a good day out last week. We had a very interesting day, and learnt a lot about the island and its wildlife. I will keep your details so if a friend is coming to Madeira on holiday, we can recommend you. On the day after our trip out with you, there was a coach trip leaving our hotel, but there were so many people, they used two coaches. It was so much nicer to be on our own, and so much quieter and more relaxed, and I am sure we saw very much more. Many thanks to you.”
John Walker, United Kingdom for Madeira Full Day Birdwatching
“A day out that was more than just birdwatching! We saw much of the western side of Madeira during this trip. Spectacular scenery and a white-knuckle ride along the single-track road clinging to the cliff-face in the north-west of the island. An excellent home-cooked lunch at a small restaurant in Porto Moniz. Our guides clearly knew what to look for and where to look for it - mostly locations that a stranger would not know or not be able to figure out from the map. Bird density is low in Madeira and local knowledge is essential. Locations visited included: vineyards, cliffs (including: Ponta do Pargo), coastal villages, valleys in the mountains, and a reed bed and small pond on the south coast Lugar de Baixo. The guides were friendly, knowledgeable, and very helpful. We had a good day out and thought it was excellent value for money.”
James Kenny, Ireland for Whale and Dolphin Watching in Madeira
“The water is so clear. Next Summer I shall do a full day cruise...”
Rosemary Dawson, United Kingdom for Whale and Dolphin Watching in Madeira
“Bottled-nose dolphins, sperm whales and turtles... Couldn't expect more!”
Robert Jones, United Kingdom for Whale and Dolphin Watching in Madeira
“Amazing landscape... Great to see Bottled-nose dolphins.”
